Two new Google features for bloggers

Blogger now has a slightly better answer to Trackbacks: Backlinks. These are basically a list of blog pages that link to a particular blog post. Instead of the pinging activity of trackback, the backlinks feature uses the Google BlogSearch to look for links. The downside is that BlogSearch isn't that good when it comes to old blogposts. But now you won't need to rely on other people's trackbacks, which I think outweighs the single disadvantage. I already removed the third party Haloscan trackback service to make my blogging environment more consistent.

Google also recently released Google Analytics, which is a free website statistics analysis tool. It's feature set is quite comparable to other similar but paid services. I'll try this out later.
