Web Alerts

Gosh! So many things have been happening in the world of search engines (i.e. Google and its competitors) that I'm simply too overwhelmed to post about everything. So I won't. Go to Nathan for that.

Anyway, here's something I think is more useful than overhyped new releases: You can now be alerted of updates to certain Web Search queries through Google's Web Alerts. Just type in the search terms (e.g., choose "Web" (or "Web & News", if you want) from the drop-down list, and you'll be notified through email everytime a new entry appears in the search results for those terms (in the case of the example I gave above, I'll be notified everytime Google Search detects a new page linking to my blog).
